“You Are A Dog, I Have Stopped Responding To You” Gen. Muhoozi Mocks Bobi Wine

Uganda’s political climate was thrown into fresh controversy following a provocative tweet from Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba directed at opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine. In the tweet that quickly ignited fierce debate online, Muhoozi used inflammatory language, calling Bobi Wine a “dog” and declaring that he would no longer respond to him directly.

“Bobi Wine nembwa… As a Muchwezi, I’m forbidden from responding to dogs. I hereby give that work to my juniors. I will be watching them,” Muhoozi tweeted.

The tweet shocked many across the country, not only because of the direct insult but also due to its cultural and political undertones. In Ugandan society, calling someone a dog is deeply offensive. By invoking his identity as a “Muchwezi,” a reference to a noble heritage linked to ancient ruling dynasties, Muhoozi appeared to place himself above his political rival, stating he would let his subordinates engage with Bobi Wine instead.

This verbal attack lands amidst ongoing friction between the ruling elite and the opposition. Bobi Wine, leader of the National Unity Platform (NUP), remains a key critic of the current government and a prominent advocate for reform, particularly among younger Ugandans.

The reaction to Muhoozi’s tweet has been sharply divided. While some of his supporters praised him for his assertiveness and loyalty to President Museveni’s regime, others condemned the tweet as disrespectful and inflammatory. Critics warned that such rhetoric could escalate political tensions and shift attention away from pressing national concerns.

Many Ugandans took to social media to question the appropriateness of such language coming from a top military figure, especially at a time when unity and stability are urgently needed. Some observers accused Muhoozi of fueling political theatrics instead of offering solutions to the country’s challenges.

As the tweet continues to dominate conversations online, it’s clear that Muhoozi’s comments have intensified the political spotlight. Whether the post was part of a broader strategy or a spontaneous outburst, the General’s words have undoubtedly stirred the pot in Uganda’s already polarized political landscape.
