No Tolerance for Corruption!! Museveni Takes Firm Action Against NRM Electoral Offenders

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has taken a decisive stance against election fraud within the National Resistance Movement (NRM). In response to widespread reports of irregularities during recent party primaries, Museveni has vowed to take strong measures to uphold the integrity and honor of the party. He condemned those involved in cheating as “self-centered individuals” who prioritize personal gain over the values and sacrifices that shaped the NRM.

Addressing party members, Museveni emphasized that electoral misconduct tarnishes the party’s proud history, which was founded by heroes and martyrs who fought for Uganda’s freedom—not by those who use bribery, intimidation, or manipulation to secure power. He called on all loyal NRM members and Ugandans to join efforts in stopping this damaging practice.

Security agencies have already launched investigations, resulting in the arrest of eight suspects accused of vote tampering from districts such as Mayuge, Buyende, Kapchorwa, Pader, Oyam, Rwampara, Kareenga, and Mbarara. The President revealed that more suspects are being pursued and further arrests are expected.

To guarantee justice, Museveni has established a special legal team of top lawyers to manage petitions and cases related to the electoral violations. He reassured supporters that the NRM leadership is fully committed to thoroughly addressing these issues and restoring fairness within the party. He urged members to come forward with any evidence of wrongdoing, including incidents of violence, bribery, or voter register tampering.

In closing, Museveni appealed particularly to Uganda’s youth, known as the Bazzukulu, to uphold the party’s founding principles. He reminded them that the NRM’s legacy was forged through bravery and sacrifice, and that it must be fiercely protected against corruption and dishonesty.

Museveni’s message is unmistakable: electoral malpractice within the NRM will not be tolerated. The party will be cleansed from within to safeguard its core values, and anyone found guilty will face strict legal consequences.
