Big Story!! Fresh Details Emerge on How Security Nabbed Former Police Commander Nixon Agasirwe Over Murder Of Joan Kagezi
New information has been shared about how security officers arrested Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nickson Agasirwe Karuhanga. He used to be the head of the Police Special Operations Unit. Now, he is being investigated for the murder of top prosecutor Joan Kagezi in 2015.
Joan Kagezi was a well-known Senior State Prosecutor. On March 30, 2015, unknown people shot and killed her in Kiwatule, a part of Kampala, while she was driving home. Her murder was not solved for many years—until now.
Recently, during a court case, a suspect named Daniel Kiwanuka Kisekka said that a man called “Nixon” gave the order to kill Kagezi. Kisekka is a former soldier and has already admitted that he was involved.
He said a man named Kibuuka told him that Nixon paid for the job.
Kisekka also said he saw Nixon meet with Kibuuka in Kalerwe two days before the murder. Nixon was driving a government car.
After this came out in court, security forces acted quickly. A special team was formed, including members from the Flying Squad, Joint Anti-Terrorism Unit, Special Forces Command, and detectives from the CID. They were sent to arrest SSP Agasirwe.
Sources say the team arrested him on Wednesday night. He was taken to CID headquarters, then handed over to the Defence Intelligence and Security (DIS), which used to be called the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI). DIS is now questioning him for more information.
The police have not shared much with the public. Police spokesperson Mr. Kituuma Rusoke said he hasn’t received official news about the arrest. However, detectives working on the case confirmed that Agasirwe was arrested. They believe he may know who gave the order to kill Kagezi.
One detective said, “We now know who the killers are. We want to find out who sent them.”
The investigation is still happening, but with this new arrest, more answers may be found soon.
