CAF Team Bus in Deadly Bypass Collision!! One Motorcyclist Killed in Kampala Crash

Tragedy unfolded on the afternoon of Monday, 29th July 2025, when a Uganda Cranes team bus was involved in a fatal road accident along the Northern Bypass near Kisasi Flyover, Kampala.

According to Kira Road Police, the accident occurred at approximately 3:00 PM and involved a CAF-registered King Long Bus—orange in color and bearing registration number UA 19059AA. The vehicle, designated for Uganda’s national football team, was being driven by Khalid Ahmed at the time.

Initial reports indicate that the bus driver swerved abruptly to avoid a head-on collision with an oncoming trailer. During the evasive maneuver, the bus struck a motorcycle—registration UFB 122F—resulting in the instant death of the rider. Authorities have yet to confirm the identity of the deceased.

The rider’s body has since been transported to the City Mortuary at Mulago for a postmortem. Both the bus and motorcycle have been impounded and are currently held at Kira Road Police Station pending inspection by the Inspectorate of Vehicles (IOV).

Police say investigations are ongoing to determine the precise circumstances that led to the crash. ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Police Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan, extended condolences to the victim’s family and emphasized the need for heightened caution on the roads.

“This unfortunate incident is a stark reminder of how quickly things can go wrong. We urge all road users—drivers, riders, and pedestrians alike—to prioritize safety at all times,” Owoyesigyire stated.

The Northern Bypass, a major traffic artery in Kampala, has seen a rise in serious accidents in recent years. Authorities are now calling for restraint and patience from the public as investigations into this latest tragedy continue.
