MP Byakatonda Seeks Parliament’s Nod to Consult on Labour Externalization Bill.

Dr. Abdul Byakatonda, the Workers MP, is taking significant steps to advance the Labour Externalization Bill 2023.
The legislator is seeking leave of parliament to consult stakeholders on the private member’s Bill. The ACT provides for Administration, Management & development of labour externalization to safeguard human rights and international labour standards for protection of migrant workers.
He recently consulted with the Labour State Minister to harmonize the private member’s bill, aiming to improve labour externalization in Uganda. This move demonstrates Byakatonda’s commitment to protecting Ugandan workers’ rights abroad.
As a seasoned leader, Byakatonda brings valuable experience to the table, having served as a member of the National Negotiating and Consultative Council, Ministry of Public Service, and previously working with the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) in various human resource management roles.
The Labour Externalization Bill 2023 seeks to regulate the recruitment and deployment of Ugandan workers abroad, ensuring their safety and well-being. Byakatonda’s efforts to seek leave of parliament to consult stakeholders on the proposed bill demonstrate his dedication to getting it right.
