We need practical solutions- MPs reaction to presidential address
President Museveni has been asked by a group of NRM MPs to offer an expedient solution that address the actual issues that Ugandans are facing rather than focusing discussion on the need for electric vehicles.
According to Mps, the President can still use his government for practical solutions to an inescapably unsustainable situation.
Mps want government to concentrate on the oil refineries instead of their focus on building a pipeline to export crude oil.
On Wednesday, President Museveni delivered a national address and expressed need for Ugandans to shift from the fossil fuel cars to electric cars as the country joins the global power to contain a looming recession amid climate change concerns world over.
The president noted that Uganda needs Shs 20billion to develop more affordable electric automotives and railway networks.
The MPs told journalists at Parliament that electric car will be expensive compared their production costs that have remained even in the United States.

Several Ugandans are currently struggling to buy food to feed their families because they don’t have money in their pockets, the people of Karamoja are in need of food because the food supplied is not sufficient but the President is yet to find economically viable solutions.
A hard economic crisis is fast emerging creating more dissent in the population. Youths in Jinja on Monday took to the streets to protest the high commodity and fuel prices.
They were however contained by security forces after 61 of them were arrested.
