Must Read!! What You Missed During Mr Calvin Echodu’s Interview On NTV
On 17th May 2025, Mr. Calvin Echodu was featured on NTV’s Talk of the Nation show. He is running for the position of NRM Vice Chairperson for the Eastern Region. In the interview, he clearly explained his plans to bring new energy to the party, support young people, and help develop Eastern Uganda.
Mr. Echodu began by praising the NRM leadership for the progress made during the Party Structural Elections. He thanked the NRM National Chairman, H.E Yoweri Museveni, and the National Secretariat for creating a digital system to register members and voters. He also praised the NRM Electoral Commission for organizing what he called a “very successful” local election. He said that the peaceful and organized process shows that the party is growing stronger and more democratic. But it was his next message that stood out the most.
Mr. Echodu spoke strongly about the need for party leaders to reconnect with ordinary people. He said some leaders have become distant and are no longer in touch with the people they serve. He promised to change that in the Eastern Region. “I want to rebuild the trust between the Party and our people. We must go back to our roots,” he said. He believes that leaders must be reachable and take responsibility for their actions. He also said his leadership would be inclusive and based on the idea that every person’s voice matters.
He then talked about the serious challenges in Eastern Uganda. He said the region remains the poorest part of the country. Mr. Echodu, who grew up in Tubur, Soroti District, said he understands the struggles people face every day. He promised to make local development his top priority. He plans to link the region with national programs and global development partners. He made it clear that his campaign is not about empty promises but about real work and results. He wants to help people in the region build better futures.
He also focused on the youth. Mr. Echodu said young people are full of energy, ideas, and hope but often lack support and chances to lead. He outlined a plan built on four key steps: identifying, recruiting, training, and giving young people real roles. “Our young people are full of energy and ideas. What they lack is opportunity. I want to change that,” he said.
His interview showed that his campaign is focused on people, especially those at the grassroots. He talked about the importance of listening to all citizens, building strong communities, and offering equal opportunities for everyone. He spoke directly to young people who feel left out of politics and said he wants to involve them. He also promised that he would not be a leader who only listens to the powerful. “Everyone matters. Every voice counts. From village elders to market vendors—this party should work for all,” he said. Mr. Echodu’s leadership style, energy, and inclusive approach are what many feel the NRM needs right now.
In a brave and honest move, Mr. Echodu also spoke about problems in the recent elections. He admitted that there were some cases of misconduct, although he said these happened in less than 5% of the election process. He assured viewers that the party is committed to finding and solving these issues quickly.
Most politicians avoid talking about such problems. But Mr. Echodu chose to speak the truth. His honesty and openness make him stand out as a leader who truly wants to serve. Mr. Calvin Echodu is not a typical politician. He listens to people and puts them first. His message is strong and clear: the party must reconnect with the people. It’s time for fresh energy in the NRM.
