Entebbe Airport Expansion to Boost Passenger Capacity by 75%
Kampala, Uganda – The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) has announced that the ongoing expansion of Entebbe International Airport’s new terminal building is nearing completion, with works expected to be finished by July 2024.

According to UCAA Director General, Fred Bamwesigye, the upgraded terminal will significantly enhance the airport’s passenger capacity, increasing from 2 million to at least 3.5 million passengers per year, representing a 75% boost.
“This milestone marks a major step forward in our efforts to modernize Uganda’s aviation infrastructure and cater to the growing demand for air travel,” Bamwesigye said.
The expansion project is part of UCAA’s strategic plan to improve the country’s aviation sector, enhance tourism, and increase economic growth. The upgraded terminal will provide a seamless and efficient travel experience for passengers, cementing Entebbe International Airport’s status as a regional hub.
With the increased capacity, the airport is poised to handle the growing passenger traffic, supporting Uganda’s tourism industry and fostering economic development.
