NRM MP Losers Given Deadline For Petitions
The ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party will on Friday 11th September 2020 stop receiving petitions from members who were not satisfied with the recently concluded party primaries.
The elections for parlimentary NRM flag bearers were held by voters linning up behind the candidates of their choices in the 151 districts and 353 constituencies across the country.
Speaking to press yesterday, John Kyalimpa Kijjagi, the NRM Electoral Commission vice chairperson said they will not receive any petition after Friday this week except those constituencies which did not vote.
Kijjagi notes that the elections were 90% free and fair save for few areas where they were cancelled or postponed due to violence and other factors.
He says they are working with the legal team to recount votes in areas where elections tallying went wrong such as Ntoloko and Buyaga East among others and have informed candidates bring their Declaration forms to the EC to compare them so that the winner is declared.
