Good News!! Over 57,000 Free Land Titles Ready! Minister Nabakooba Says It’s Time to Empower Communities
In a big move to help Ugandans become landowners and create wealth, the Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Judith Nabakooba, has revealed that 57,325 freehold land titles have been prepared for people in seven districts: Bukedea, Soroti, Serere, Isingiro, Ntungamo, Maracha, and Kikuube.
These land titles are part of a special government program by the NRM (National Resistance Movement), which aims to support vulnerable communities that cannot afford the high cost of land registration. “Getting a land title is usually too expensive for many people, but it’s very important for wealth creation,” said Minister Nabakooba.
She urged Resident District Commissioners (RDCs) and other local leaders in the mentioned areas to work with her ministry to organize public events where the land titles will be officially handed over to the rightful owners. This, she said, will ensure transparency and dignity during the distribution process.
Owning a land title is a life-changing step. It gives families legal security over their land, protects them from land grabbers, and helps them access loans, government programs, and other services. It also gives people peace of mind and a strong foundation for starting or growing a business.
Minister Nabakooba’s announcement shows that the government is serious about fighting land conflicts, reducing poverty, and supporting development through land ownership.
This free land title initiative is not just about documents—it’s about building futures.
