URA Brings Tax Services to the Heart of Kampala

As the financial year draws to a close, the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has taken an important step to help taxpayers by setting up temporary service hubs right in the middle of downtown Kampala. These hubs are easy to access and are meant to make it easier for people to meet their tax responsibilities before the deadline.

Located in busy parts of the city, the makeshift centers offer a variety of helpful services. Whether you need to file your tax returns, register for a Tax Identification Number (TIN), or generate a Payment Registration Number (PRN), the URA staff at these hubs are ready to assist. They also provide general tax advice, answering questions and guiding taxpayers through the process.

This initiative is a joint effort between URA’s tax education team and Blocks M and J. Together, they aim to improve tax compliance and make sure that all taxes due for the financial year are properly collected. The goal is to support taxpayers while also strengthening the country’s revenue systems.

But the support doesn’t stop there. URA is also holding educational workshops in various city arcades. These sessions are designed to teach business owners and individuals how to properly report their earnings and maintain accurate documentation. By doing this, URA hopes to reduce mistakes in filing and improve the overall quality of tax reporting.

So far, this programme has helped URA better understand the common problems taxpayers face. These insights will be useful in creating future tax policies and designing education programmes that are more focused and helpful.

With these efforts, URA is not only making tax filing easier, but also showing its commitment to working together with Ugandans to build a stronger and more developed country.
