KCCA Officials Push for Safer, Faster Road Works in Kampala
In a bid to improve the condition of roads in Kampala, top government officials recently took part in a guided inspection of ongoing road construction works around the city. The Minister for Kampala Capital City and Metropolitan Affairs, Hajjat Minsa Kabanda, was joined by the Minister of State, Hon. Kyofatogabye Kabuye, and the Lord Mayor, His Worship Erias Lukwago, on this important visit.
The inspection took place across several key roads, including 7th and 8th Streets, Spring Road, Old Port Bell Road, and Kayemba Bridge along Queen’s Way. These are major roads that serve thousands of road users every day, and their improvement is crucial for reducing traffic jams and making travel easier and safer.
During the tour, the leaders assessed both the physical progress of the construction and the quality of the work being done. They closely examined whether the roads are being built to standard and how far along the projects have reached. The officials were keen on ensuring that contractors are not only working hard but also maintaining high-quality standards.
Importantly, the team emphasized the need for contractors to speed up the work without compromising the safety of road users. They reminded all construction teams that roads are for everyone — drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists — and that their safety must be prioritized during and after the construction.
This inspection is part of the broader effort under the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) to build better roads and infrastructure for the people of Kampala. It shows that the government is taking active steps to monitor public projects and ensure value for money. With such dedication and supervision, Kampala residents can look forward to smoother, safer, and more reliable roads.
