I cannot block Bobi Wine to be hosted on CBS FM and BBS Terefayina, Says Katikiro

Claims have emerged suggesting that Peter Mayiga, the Prime Minister of Buganda Kingdom, intervened to prevent CBS FM and BBS Terefayina from hosting Robert Kyagulanyi, popularly known as Bobi Wine, the president of the National Unity Platform (NUP). These assertions have predominantly circulated among NUP supporters on social media platforms.
In response to these allegations, Mayiga firmly refuted the claims, asserting that he does not exert control over the editorial choices made by CBS Radio and its affiliated stations. “That’s simply untrue,” he stated during an interview with Sanyuka TV’s Adam Kungu.
“I don’t dictate who appears on Buganda Kingdom’s radio and television stations. The management teams are responsible for selecting panelists based on the circumstances at hand.”
Mayiga emphasized the independence of these media outlets, noting that both CBS and its sister stations operate under distinct editorial and management boards. “We allow these organizations to function autonomously. Their leadership makes the decisions regarding who is invited to participate in discussions,” he clarified.
Furthermore, Mayiga highlighted his role as Prime Minister, which he described as one of support rather than interference. “I encourage management to focus on issues pertinent to Buganda, including development and youth matters, while ensuring that all voices seeking coverage are given fair opportunities,” he added.
The denial of these allegations underscores the commitment of Buganda Kingdom’s leadership to uphold media independence and fair representation in public discourse.
