Double Tragedy in Kyankwanzi: Man with Mental Health Issues Arrested for Killing Mother and Brother.

In a devastating incident in Kyankwanzi District, a 30-year-old man, Ronald Ssemanda, suspected to be suffering from mental illness, has been arrested for allegedly killing his mother and brother in a brutal attack. The victims, 46-year-old Sylvia Namaganda and 24-year-old Robert Ssenyonga, were fatally attacked with a large cassava stem on Monday evening in Bukekete Village, Makulubita Sub- County.

Ssemanda, who has been battling mental health issues for years, was taken into custody at Kyankwanzi Police Station as investigations continue into the double homicide. The family had sought spiritual intervention for his condition, but on the fateful evening, Ssemanda allegedly turned violent, attacking his brother and mother.

Police have recovered the cassava stem used in the attack and are conducting a comprehensive medical examination to determine Ssemanda’s mental state at the time of the killings. The incident has sent shockwaves through the community, with local authorities calling for increased mental health awareness and support services to prevent similar incidents in the future.
