Opposition cannot stop us; Speaker assured the people of Northern Region.

The Speaker of Parliament Anita Among has assured Ugandans especially the people from the Northern region that the plenary sittings kicking off tomorrow at Kaunda Grounds will go through as planned despite boycott by Members of Parliament from the opposition.

She made the remarks while visiting relatives of the late Speaker Jacob Olanya at his home in Omoyo County. “I want to assure the people of Northern Uganda that we are going to have out sittings as planned nothing can stop us,” she said.

She has urged voters in the region not to vote for all Members of Parliament who have boycotted in the next election. “Note all your Members of Parliament who have boycotted and make sure you don’t bring them back to Parliament in the next election, ” She said.

Among officially opened Omoro FM which was started by the late Speaker Jacob Olanya. The station in now being run by his son.

Meanwhile, the historical event has sparked a surge on economic activities like Cab drivers, boda-boda riders, food vendors, suppliers and hotels proprietors are already reaping the benefits of the influx of visitors.
