Entebbe International Airport Soars into the Future with Cutting-Edge Technology

Entebbe International Airport is taking a giant leap into the future with cutting-edge technology, revolutionising aviation efficiency in Uganda. Ms. Hellen Wenene, the Acting Director General, emphasised the critical need for ongoing innovation in the aviation sector, highlighting the significant impact of new technologies on airport operations.

Key Technological Advancements:

  • Advanced Air Traffic Control Systems: Streamlining landing and take-off processes, reducing workload for pilots and air traffic controllers, and ensuring a smoother flight experience.
  • Automation: Enhancing airport operations with centralised monitoring systems, facilitating timely maintenance and responses to technical issues.
  • Terminal Operations Control Centre (TOCC): Boosting coordination and information sharing among stakeholders, including immigration, airport operations, and security.
  • Personnel Licensing (PEL) System Automation: Planned deployment by November 31, 2024, to standardize application processes, payments, and license issuance.
  • Civil Aviation Safety and Security Oversight System (CASSORT): Rolling out in eight phases to standardize aviation security and safety oversight functions.

These innovations not only improve operational efficiency but also reduce environmental impact, noise, and carbon emissions, making flights more comfortable for passengers.  With Entebbe International Airport at the forefront of aviation technology, Uganda is poised to become a central hub in Africa’s aviation landscape.
