Don’t Panic, NDA comforts the public about Fedate Capsules
An individual in the public has displayed an opened capsule in a video demonstrating that the powder it contains is attracted by a magnet a thing that has raised concerns of National Drug Authority. Despite the limited information in the video, it has instilled fear and unease in the public and prompted the NDA to issue a clarification regarding the drug and its contents.
According to NDA, the product in the video is Fedate Capsules that is dully registered and approved for use after undergoing all due regulatory processes. Fedate Capsules contain Carbonyl Iron, Folic Acid, Vitamin B12, Vitamin C and Zinc Sulphate Monohydrate. The medicine is indicated for Iron deficiency anemia and is also a vitamin and mineral supplement.
NDA has assured the public of the quality and safety assurance measures in place that include sampling and testing of medicines on the market and investigations of any medicine quality defects and Adverse Drug Reactions.
Similar to the previous video, the video that circulated in December 2023 failed to disclose how the individuals in question obtained a full box of the product or how they can be contacted for crucial information relevant to further investigations.
The NDA urges the public to be mindful of the competitive nature of the pharmaceutical industry, cautioning that certain entities may seek to discredit rival products by inciting public alarm.
“We appeal to the public to always seek guidance from a healthcare professional for proper diagnosis and prescription before use of any medicine as per the current treatment guidelines and report any drug related complaints on our toll-free line 0800 101 999 or WhatsApp line 0740 002 080.” Notified NDA
