Uganda Expands Global Reach: 56 Bilateral Air Service Agreements Signed.
Uganda has made significant strides in enhancing its international air connectivity by concluding Bilateral Air Service Agreements (BASAs) with an impressive 56 countries.
These agreements are crucial in facilitating travel and trade, and it’s exciting to see Uganda expanding its reach globally.
Some of the countries with which Uganda has signed BASAs include:
• Africa: Algeria, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Djibouti, D.R. Congo, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gabon, Ghana, Kenya, Libya, Malawi, Mauritius, Morocco, Nigeria, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, South Africa, South Sudan, Sudan, Tanzania, and Zambia.
• Asia: China, India, Iran, Israel, Kuwait, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and United Arab Emirates.
• Europe: Austria, Belgium, Finland, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Netherlands, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
• The Americas: Brazil, Colombia, and the United States.
• Other regions: Australia is not listed, but other countries include Singapore, Thailand, and Turkey.
The most recent BASAs were signed with Algeria, Brazil, Benin, Iceland, and Malawi, marking a significant milestone in Uganda’s aviation history. These agreements will not only boost tourism and trade but also create opportunities for Uganda’s national carrier, Uganda Airlines, to expand its routes and services.
