I’m Not Backing Out -Kasibante Vows To Run As Independent After Being Denied NUP Ticket

Rubaga North Member of Parliament Moses Kasibante has vowed to stand as an independent for the same seat in the forthcoming general elections a day after being denied the National Unity Platform (NUP) party ticket.

Addressing the media at Gorgina Gardens in Kampala today, Kasibante expressed disatisfaction with the NUP vetting committee which he said messed up and handed the party ticket to his opponent Abubaker Kawalya whom he said is National Resistance Movement (NRM) leaning.

Kasibante said that the vetting Committee was inflitrated by agents of the “devil” they are fighting which has seen many NRM leaning individuals handed the NUP flag.

“This can be seen by how these candidates deal with the devil. It is a shocker that they couldn’t be detected by the sieve of the NUP vetting committee. Hajji Kawalya forexample enjoys a political marriage with the NRM. His KCCA speaker bid was morally and financially supported by the state and candidates who had been fronted by NRM had to stand down in his favor.” Said Kasibante

He added ” Who could challenge my strength in as far as fighting the dictator is concerned? I have been in almost all the cells in police stations around Kampala being detained for fighting the dictator”

He blamed all the irregularities in the vetting process on the limmitted time allocated for this process.

“Some of these gaps would have formed my basis to contest the vetting process but there is no time for that since nominations are around the corner. I have decided to petition the constituents of Rubaga North by standing again as an independent.” He noted

Kasibante who crossed from Democratic Party (DP) to NUP in August this year says he doesn’t regrete his decision and is still committed to the party and its principal Robert Kyagulanyi.
