Ugandans Urged to Verify Voter Registration Status Before May 26

In a crucial step toward ensuring a fair and transparent electoral process, the Electoral Commission of Uganda is calling on all citizens to check their status on the National Voters Register. The Commission has released a list of individuals recommended for removal from the register as part of the #NVRDisplay2025 campaign.

Between May 16th and 26th, 2025, voters are encouraged to visit their Parish or Ward Headquarters to confirm whether their names appear on this list. If you find your name wrongly listed for removal, this is your opportunity to raise an official objection and ensure your right to vote is protected.

This nationwide initiative is designed to clean up the register by removing names of the deceased, ineligible voters, and duplicates—an effort that strengthens the integrity of Uganda’s electoral system. However, the Commission acknowledges the possibility of errors, which is why this public verification process is vital.

“This is not just a technical exercise,” said a spokesperson from the Electoral Commission. “It’s about safeguarding your democratic right. If your name is wrongly listed, your voice in the next election could be lost. Act now.”

The Electoral Commission is urging local leaders, community organizations, and media outlets to help spread the word. Every eligible voter deserves the chance to participate in shaping the country’s future, and this display period is a key moment to make sure that happens.

So don’t wait—visit your Parish or Ward Headquarters before May 26th and confirm your place on the Voters Register. Uganda’s democracy depends on it.
