“NUP Leaders Are Pretending While Working with Museveni,” Erias Lukwago Spills In Bold Statement

Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has accused some leaders in the National Unity Platform (NUP) of secretly working with President Museveni’s government while pretending to oppose it. He warned that such actions are damaging the opposition’s credibility.

“You can’t fight the government during the day and support it at night,” Lukwago said.

Veteran politician Ken Lukyamuzi also warned that greed and mistrust are dividing the opposition. He said without true unity, any coalition is fake.

These comments highlight growing divisions among key opposition parties like NUP, Democratic Party (DP), and Forum for Democratic Change (FDC). While they once talked about working together, they now seem more focused on blaming each other.

Claims that some NUP members are “moles” have caused more arguments, as the ruling NRM prepares for the elections.

Despite efforts through groups like IPOD to unite the opposition, many leaders seem more interested in personal gain.

Lukwago is now calling on the public to hold all politicians accountable. He warns that without unity, the opposition might miss another chance for change in 2026.
