wa, the permanent secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has highlighted the enduring relationship with Kenya and its people in a press release dated June 26, 2024.
On June 25th, 2024, what began as a peaceful protest in Kenya took a destructive turn yesterday as demonstrators abandoned nonviolent methods and targeted properties. Among the affected sites was Uganda House, a prominent commercial building set to reopen this Friday, June 28th, 2024.
Bagire has stated that despite the unfortunate destruction, prompt action by the Nairobi Fire Department prevented further escalation of the blaze. “While there was significant property damage, authorities confirmed no fatalities or serious injuries resulting from the incident.” He added.
In response to the events,Bagire has emphasized that the Government of Uganda affirms the right to peaceful protest while strongly denouncing any violence leading to property damage or endangering lives. He urges for composure and advises against jumping to premature conclusions, but rather advocates for patience until more clarity is attained through comprehensive investigations into the issue.
