President Museveni Is Hiding Under COVID-19 To block us-Kyagulanyi
The leader of people power movement and 2021 presidential hopeful Robert Kyagulanyi says President Museveni is hiding under Covid-19 pandemic to block them from holding public rallies.
The Electoral Commission last week announced that mass rallies will not be allowed during the forthcoming 2021 general elections to avoid the spread of Coronavirus and that campaigns will be done on radios and TVs by candidates.
However, the Kyadondo East legislator says President Museveni ordered the Electoral Commission to organize what he called scientific elections to block them from reaching people.
“No Ugandan should be fooled into believing that Museveni is doing this for the safety of Ugandans. As we speak now, most urban places are filled with people going about their usual business uninterrupted. No social distancing, no nothing, if any one has any doubts, please visit Kikubo or any other urban place “said Kyagulanyi during a press conference held in Kamokya today.
He says the president hiding behind the public order management act, blocked their consultations and his music shows long before COVID-19 came into Uganda.
“Therefore, there is nothing like a scientific election. For us we are going for a real election because a scientific election is not an election” said Kyagulanyi
The musician cum politician says scientific elections will deny many candidates chance to convey their message to the voters so that voters can make an informed choice.
Kyagulanyi who reaffirmed his stand to challenge Museveni in the next presidential election warned of a stringent action once the president doesn’t organise free and fair elections.
” We are telling you that you either organize a free and fair elections or step down peacefully but if you continue provoking the patience of Uganda, they will rise up against you and you will end up in the dustbin of history like your friend Ghadafi, like your friend Mobutu and like your friend Omal El Bashir” says Kyagulanyi
The Electoral Commission chairman, Justice Simon Byabakama says whereas they recognize the constitutional right of citizens to vote and choose their desired leaders, they are also mandated to observe health guidelines for safety of citizens.
