KCCA Hosts Key Meeting to Improve Support for Vulnerable Children
On Friday, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) held its annual review meeting for all approved children’s homes operating within Kampala City. The meeting took place at Sanyu Babies Home, located in Namirembe, Rubaga Division.
This important gathering brought together managers and social workers from various children’s homes to reflect on the progress made over the past year, discuss ongoing challenges, and share updates on how to improve care and protection for vulnerable children.
Participants highlighted several achievements in child welfare, including stronger collaboration between homes, improved care practices, and better support systems for children. At the same time, they openly discussed key challenges, such as limited resources, the need for more trained staff, and the growing number of children needing support.
The meeting was a chance for everyone involved in child care to learn from one another, strengthen partnerships, and plan for a more effective approach to child protection. It also reinforced KCCA’s commitment to ensuring all registered homes follow proper standards and provide safe, loving environments for children.
By working together, these homes are building a stronger future for the children of Kampala.
