The Minister of Education and Sports, Hon. Dr. John .C. Muyingo, has hailed the late Hon.Professor Edward Khiddu Makubuya, a prominent Ugandan lawyer, politician and academic- who also served as Attorney General, for the true spirit of patriotism he exhibited through his tremendous contributions to the country in different sectors.
Dr. Muyingo delivered the poignant tribute while speaking to mourners, this afternoon at the residence of the late in Ntinda.
“He was a true patriot who made substantial contributions to Uganda’s legal, political and educational field. He had been passionate about reading, there was no day I was with him and didn’t have a book with him. He was a man of his word and a beloved leader in his community, he will always be missed.”Muyingo said.
Dr. Muyingo attributed his success, both in politics and academics to the advice he always received from the late.
“When I approached him to discuss my intentions to join politics, he advised me to be honest, truthful and straightforward with the people I was going to serve. This advice helped me a lot in winning my first election as Member of Parliament. Up to date I have been following his advice in everything that I do” Muyingo said.
Professor Makubuya’s body left the funeral home earlier today for his residence in Ntinda Kigowa, and a requiem mass has been held at St Yusuf Lugalama (COU) Ntinda.
Tomorrow August 22, 2024, his body will leave his residence for Namirembe Cathedral where another requiem mass will be held at 1:00pm.
The body will thereafter, leave for Katiiti-Kalasa, Makulubita in Luwero District and a night vigil will be held there.
On August 23, 2024, there will be another requiem mass at 10:00am at his ancestral home in Katiiti-Kalasa, Makulubita in Luwero District and later at 1:00pm, the burial ceremony will start with Gun Salute.
Professor Kiddu Makubuya died on August 18, 2024, at 75 years. According to his family, he had been battling several illnesses in the past years which kept him in and out of hospital.
