Mukono Tragedy!! Motorcycle Passenger Killed in Head-On Truck Collision

A fatal road accident occurred on 10th September 2025 at around 2:50 PM in Mukono, right in front of Brivena Guest House, opposite Collin Hotel (Mbale Taxi Stage), along the Jinja-Kampala highway. The crash involved a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle (registration UDN 368R) and a white Howo Sino semi-trailer truck (registration UBR 801B/UBR 805B).

According to police reports, the motorcycle, ridden by 37-year-old Kayondo Ibrah, was following the truck from Jinja towards Kampala. The motorcycle collided with the rear of the truck, causing the rider to lose control. Tragically, the passenger on the motorcycle, 41-year-old Masembe Supriano Kabali, was crushed under the truck’s rear left tires and died instantly at the scene. Kayondo sustained serious injuries.

Police officers, led by AIP Ngobi Solomon and CPL Atero Immaculate, responded quickly to the scene. The injured rider was rushed to Kawolo Hospital for urgent medical attention, while the body of the deceased was taken to Kawolo Mortuary. Both the motorcycle and truck were impounded at Mukono Police Yard for further inspection.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the accident was caused by the motorcycle following too closely behind the truck, resulting in a head-to-rear-end collision. Police are conducting more inquiries to understand the full circumstances of the crash.

The incident has shocked the local community, highlighting the dangers on busy highways. Authorities are urging motorists to maintain safe distances, avoid reckless driving, and remain vigilant to prevent similar tragedies.

The truck driver is currently in police custody as investigations continue. Police are also appealing to anyone who witnessed the accident to come forward and provide information to aid the investigation.
