Early on the morning of August 29, 2025, tragedy struck Namanoga village in Seeta Namuganga Sub-County, Mukono District. Around 3:00 AM, a mob attack left five people dead, turning a night of fun into a scene of horror. The victims were young people who had traveled from Kampala to attend a music show at Lions Bar in the village.
According to reports, tensions flared when the visiting youths allegedly used fake money and were accused of pickpocketing. The villagers’ anger escalated quickly, resulting in a violent confrontation. During the attack, the taxi that had brought the youths, registration number UBD 326X, was set on fire. The tragedy left the community in shock and mourning.
Police quickly arrived, recording statements from survivors and witnesses to piece together what happened. The bodies of the victims were taken to Kayunga Hospital for post-mortem examinations, and the burnt taxi was secured as evidence. Investigations are ongoing to understand how the violence unfolded and to ensure justice is served.
The incident has sparked wider discussions about public safety, the dangers of mob justice, and the need for stronger measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
