A devastating accident early this morning has claimed the lives of two young pupils after a school bus transporting children from Star Junior School in Makindye was involved in a serious crash. The incident occurred in Zigoti Town Council, along the Mityana Road.
The children were aboard a bus operated by HMK Company, with registration number UAP 829U. Witnesses report the vehicle was carrying over 90 pupils at the time of the collision. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident.
The scene in Zigoti was filled with chaos and grief as emergency crews and bystanders rushed to assist. Cries for help echoed through the area as efforts were made to rescue the children trapped inside the wrecked bus. Tragically, two pupils died at the scene.
Several other children sustained serious injuries and were quickly taken to Mityana Hospital for medical care. While the full number of injured is not yet confirmed, officials report a “considerable” count due to the high number of passengers.
