In a major breakthrough, Ugandan security forces have arrested Bruno Juuko, the suspected leader of a violent gang that has been targeting coffee traders in the Masaka and Kalisizo areas.
The arrest, which took place at around 8:30 p.m. yesterday, followed a successful joint operation by the Uganda Police and other security agencies. Two rifles were recovered during the mission—one of which was disabled—marking a significant disruption of the gang’s activities.
Juuko, identified as the commander of the group, is believed to have orchestrated multiple armed robberies that have left local traders living in fear. His capture brings relief to communities that rely on the coffee trade for their livelihoods.
Police officials praised the officers involved, citing their bravery, coordination, and tireless efforts in tracking down the gang. They also commended the close cooperation between police and other security organs, which proved crucial to the mission’s success.
“This is a big win for the people of Masaka and Kalisizo,” said a police spokesperson. “We remain committed to safeguarding all Ugandans and urge the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activity.”
With the gang’s leadership dismantled, authorities hope this marks a turning point in restoring peace and security in the region.
