Its all excitement and anxiety at the East Africa Radio Advertising Services (EARS) in Ntinda in upscale Kampala as the giant radio sales representation company celebrates half a decade of service.
The company celebrates this great milestone on July 10 recollecting memories of an impactful 5 years of operations in the country.
“We are thrilled to commemorate five years of media excellence and economic growth in Uganda,” remarked Douglas Mutumba, managing director at EARS Ltd. “Our mission has always been to enhance the quality and efficiency of radio advertising, thereby expanding audience reach and attracting more advertisers.” he added.
Mutumba says EARS was established as a joint venture between Uganda Radio Network (URN), Media in Cooperation and Transition (MiCT), with support from the German Government’s Development Ministry, EARS has pioneered non-exclusive sales representation for 170 radio stations across Uganda.
From its inception, EARS aimed to bolster media sustainability by equipping radio stations with the tools and strategies needed to thrive in the competitive advertising landscape.
There has been extensive training initiatives and strategic support, EARS has empowered local stations to access new revenue streams through targeted advertisements.
The anniversary celebration will climax with a special event hosted at EARS’ headquarters in Ntinda, starting at 12:00 noon. The event will be graced by esteemed guests, including the German Ambassador to Uganda Matthias Schauer. This also highlights EARS’ commitment to fostering international partnerships in media development.
East Africa Radio Advertising Services remains the most prominent news and advertising agency, a media conglomerate in the region providing platform for information, education and entertainment to millions of radio listeners.
The agency has harvested from the business and media acumen of Douglas Mutumba, a seasoned professional with an experience of over 10 years in radio operations and management in Uganda. Mutumba has worked with Uganda Radio Network and holds a degree in Business administration from Makerere University among other qualifications.
