Ministers of Foreign and East African Community (EAC) Affairs have convened in Zanzibar to discuss on crucial issues impeding the integration process within the partner states. The three-day retreat, scheduled from the 6th to the 8th of July 2024, is aimed at fostering cooperation among the Partner States to address existing challenges and promote greater cohesion within the EAC.
The EAC Ministerial Retreat on Peace and Security, Partner States Relations, and Integration process will offer a platform for Ministers to engage in profound discussions, exchange insights, and collectively devise strategies to promote enduring peace, bolster security cooperation, strengthen relationships, and advance the integration agenda.
This retreat is a direct result of the mandate issued during the meeting of EAC Ministers on the 16th of February 2024 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in preparation for a consultative session of the EAC Heads of State Summit.
The Ministers will utilize the retreat to underscore the significance of solidarity and cooperation in fostering stability and furthering the collective interests of the region.
