Gibson Wabuyu, also known as Gravity Omuttujju, is preparing to release a new song titled “Doze.” Photos and short videos from the upcoming release have been circulating on social media, causing concern for the Uganda Media Association. In response, the association has held a press conference to address the public regarding the potential misconceptions created by the content.
Dr. Herbert Luswata, the President of the Uganda Medical Association, has strongly disapproved of the circulating photos and videos. He has cautioned Gravity against releasing the song in its current form and advised against the use of doctor’s attire and medical instruments in the video. If Gravity does not comply, the association has threatened to formally request the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) to ban the song on moral grounds.
Dr. Luswata expressed his concern that the video could undermine public trust in the medical profession, portraying doctors in a negative light. He urged Gravity to clarify the message and reconsider the costumes used in the video, particularly those resembling medical attire.
Furthermore, Dr. Luswata commended the government’s efforts in promoting and recruiting doctors for different hospitals, as well as providing support for medical interns and senior house officers. He acknowledged the donation of 166 ambulances by UNICEF, the Global Fund, and other partners to enhance healthcare services in the country. However, he criticized the diversion of 27 billion intended for ambulance services, expressing his fear about the impact on service delivery.
Dr. Luswata emphasized that the diverted funds were designated for fuel, salaries for medical officers in various regions, and ambulance maintenance. He urged the government to allocate a supplementary budget to the health sector to cover these essential expenses.
Remove doctors attire from the video, Luswata warns Gravity
