Fire Destroys Vehicles and Equipment in Ntinda Workshop

A fire broke out at a workshop in Ntinda, Nakawa Division, today, 8th September 2025, around 1:20 pm, causing extensive property damage. Police report that five vehicles were completely destroyed, while two others suffered partial damage. Several machines inside the workshop were also lost in the blaze.

The Police Fire Prevention and Rescue Services, working alongside engineers from Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL), responded promptly to the incident. Their quick action helped contain the fire and prevented it from spreading to nearby homes and businesses.

ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer for Kampala Metropolitan Police, confirmed the incident and said investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the fire.

Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported. However, the incident has sparked concerns about fire safety and preparedness in workshops and garages across Kampala. Police have urged business owners to strengthen fire prevention measures, including installing fire extinguishers and ensuring safe electrical wiring, to minimize the risk of future fires.

The affected workshop owners are now assessing their losses as authorities work to identify what triggered the blaze. Thanks to the swift response of police and UEDCL engineers, what could have become a much larger disaster was averted.
