Sad News!! Mubende Road Crash, Four Dead, Over 20 Injured

A tragic road accident in Mubende District has left four people dead and more than twenty others injured. The crash occurred on September 5, 2025, at around 4:30 a.m., along the Nabutiti–Kisujja stretch of the Kyegegwa–Mubende road. The vehicle involved, an Isuzu Elf with registration UBF 636F, was carrying approximately 35 passengers traveling to a burial in Kassanda.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the vehicle lost control, veered off the road, and overturned, killing four occupants on the spot. The deceased have been identified as Anold Maniriho (43), Sekubulye Richard (36), Tumuranze Enid (40), and Kobusingye Edvina (23), all from Kangoma ‘A’, Rushango Town Council in Ibanda District.

The injured include Karuhanga James (34), Mukamohere Kellen (45), Karire Jackline (34), Mufuruko Edison, Twiine Innocent (21), Kwendera John (58), Tumwikirize Scovia (56), Tugume Medard, and Busingye Medius (53), among others. Some victims are still awaiting identification.

Police quickly responded to the scene to assess and document the incident. The injured were taken to Mubende Regional Referral Hospital for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were transported to the hospital mortuary for post-mortem examinations. The vehicle has been impounded for inspection.

Authorities are investigating the accident, with careless driving suspected as the main cause. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the driver and ensure accountability.

Police spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala confirmed that investigations are in progress, while the Public Relations Officer for Wamala Region assured the public that authorities are committed to delivering justice for the victims.
