The Uganda Police Force has scored a major success in its fight against crime in Mukono District. In a well-coordinated, intelligence-led operation, officers from Mukono Central Police Station used CCTV footage to track and arrest four suspects connected to a series of robberies in the area.
Those arrested include 32-year-old Batambuze David, a driver at Bunamwaya taxi stage; 30-year-old Mulira Ronald from Natete; 40-year-old Serukenya Abdul of Nyejje-Goma, Mukono; 28-year-old Ssemanda Shafiq from Kibiri-Busabala; and 20-year-old Ainambabazi Tasha, a bar attendant in Namasuba.
The suspects were caught traveling in a Toyota Hiace, registration number UBJ 343H, which police seized. During the operation, officers also recovered seven mobile phones, which have been exhibited as evidence linking them to the robberies.
However, four other suspects, including Tifu, the driver, Caros, Ashiraf, and Ibra, managed to escape. Police are continuing their investigations to track down these individuals and anyone else involved in the crimes.
This operation is part of a wider effort by the Uganda Police to restore safety in Mukono. SSP P. Onyango, the police spokesperson for KMP, said the arrests show the power of intelligence-led policing and urged residents to cooperate by sharing any information about the remaining suspects.
With continued vigilance and community support, the police hope to dismantle criminal networks and bring all perpetrators to justice, sending a strong message that crime will not be tolerated in the region.
