Just In!! Bobi Wine Invites Rebecca Kadaga to Join NUP After NRM Clash

Uganda’s political scene stirred today when Bobi Wine, leader of the National Unity Platform (NUP), publicly invited Rebecca Kadaga, former Speaker of Parliament, to leave the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) and join the opposition. Speaking at the opening of new NUP offices in Busoga, Bobi Wine promised Kadaga that her experience and influence would be highly valued in NUP, along with a top leadership role and recognition.

The invitation comes shortly after Kadaga had a tense public exchange with President Yoweri Museveni, signaling potential cracks within the NRM. Bobi Wine told the crowd that Kadaga’s talent is being overlooked by the ruling party and that the opposition could provide her with the respect and platform she deserves.

Sources close to NUP say that if Kadaga accepts the offer, she would gain a key leadership position, financial benefits, and connections with international leaders who are engaging more with Uganda’s opposition. Political analysts describe the move as bold and strategic. With Kadaga’s strong following in Busoga and decades of experience, her switch could strengthen NUP and shake up Uganda’s political landscape.

Kadaga has long been a significant figure in Ugandan politics, rising from Deputy Speaker to the country’s first female Speaker of Parliament. Her service has earned her loyal supporters, especially in Busoga, making her a major asset for any party. A move to NUP could inspire other high-profile defections from the ruling party.

All eyes are now on Kadaga as the nation waits for her next move. Her decision could reshape Uganda’s political scene and test President Museveni’s ability to maintain unity within the NRM as the country approaches another key political season.
