Pilgrim Africa To Launch New School Malaria Project In Amuria District

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Pilgrim Africa, in partnership with the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and Sports, and the Amuria District Local Government, will launch a new initiative to fight malaria in schools. The project, known as the Pilgrim Protect School Malaria Project, is scheduled to be launched on May 8th, 2025 at Amuria Primary School in Amuria Town Council, Amuria District.

This project is part of the government’s broader School Health Program and is specially designed to help boarding schools in areas where malaria is still a serious threat. Health experts have found that school-aged children suffer from malaria more than most other groups, often missing school, falling behind in class, performing poorly on exams, and in some cases, even losing their lives.

Malaria not only affects children’s health, but it also increases the cost of treatment for families and schools and lowers children’s ability to succeed in school. With guidance from the National Malaria Elimination Division, Pilgrim Africa has developed a strong plan to protect learners in high-risk areas.

The project will use an integrated approach to prevent and reduce malaria in schools. This includes Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) to kill mosquitoes inside school buildings, tracking malaria cases and costs, and health education to help prevent new infections, training staff and students in the importance of rapid testing and treatment of both learners and staff, and encouraging parents to bring children to school free of malaria.

In addition, new spraying tools will be piloted during the project in Amuria. These tools are expected to make the spraying process more efficient and reduce the overall costs of malaria control, making it easier to extend protection to more schools in the future.

The project brings together several partners, including Goizper Group, IVCC (Innovative Vector Control Consortium), and local field teams, all working alongside Pilgrim Africa. This strong collaboration is focused on creating smarter, more cost-effective, and longer-lasting solutions to malaria in Uganda.

The upcoming launch will mark an important step toward protecting school children, improving health, and supporting education in Uganda. By keeping learners safe from malaria, the project also gives them a better chance to perform well in school and build successful futures.

This initiative shows the power of teamwork between government bodies, organizations, and communities. The Pilgrim Protect School Malaria Project is not just about spraying and testing — it’s about giving children a chance to learn, grow, and thrive in a healthier school environment. Just as students might look for support and even seminararbeit schreiben lassen (German: “to have a seminar paper written”), communities here seek support to create conditions where education can truly flourish.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
