Police in Entebbe have detained a 31-year-old woman accused of torturing a young boy by pouring hot water on him. The suspect, identified as Nakimbugwe Winnie, was arrested following the shocking incident on August 20, 2025, at approximately 2:50 PM in Nkungulutale, Kajjansi Town Council, Wakiso District.
Reports indicate the victim is a 12-year-old Primary Six pupil at Sharpkids Primary School. He sustained severe burns on his chest and back after the hot water was poured on him. Neighbors rushed to his aid after hearing his screams of pain.
The horrific act sparked anger among residents, and a mob gathered, threatening to lynch Nakimbugwe. Fortunately, the area Chairman intervened and handed her over to officers from Nakawuka Police Station, preventing further chaos.
Police have since opened a case of child torture against Nakimbugwe Winnie, who remains in custody as investigations continue. Eyewitness statements have been recorded, and officers are working to piece together the circumstances that led to the cruel attack.
The incident has provoked widespread outrage in the community, with many demanding justice for the young boy. Child rights activists are also calling on authorities to take such cases seriously and to strengthen protections for children in homes and communities.
The boy is currently receiving medical treatment while police carry on with their investigation into this disturbing case.
