Entebbe International Airport Hits Record Passenger Numbers in July 2025

Entebbe International Airport recorded its highest-ever monthly passenger traffic in July 2025, handling a total of 230,577 travelers. This included 119,127 arrivals and 111,450 departures, averaging 7,437 passengers per day. Notably, the number of arrivals surpassed departures, reflecting a strong inflow of visitors into Uganda during the month.

The previous record was set in December 2024, when the airport managed 222,301 passengers, averaging 7,171 arrivals and departures daily. The new milestone represents a significant growth in both international and domestic travel, highlighting Uganda’s rising profile as a travel and business destination.

The surge in July 2025 is attributed to several factors, including the arrival of delegations for CHAN 2024, increased tourism promotion efforts, a series of international conferences, and improved airline connectivity. These developments have made Entebbe a preferred hub for travelers from across the region and beyond.

Cargo operations at the airport also remained strong, with a total of 5,863 metric tonnes handled during the month. This included 3,961 tonnes of exports and 1,902 tonnes of imports, underlining the airport’s vital role in Uganda’s trade and logistics sector.

The record-breaking figures at Entebbe International Airport demonstrate the growing importance of air travel and cargo services to Uganda’s economy. With ongoing improvements in airport infrastructure and airline services, the airport is poised to continue setting new milestones, supporting tourism, trade, and international business in the years ahead.
