Just In!! Somali Commandos Eliminate Over 100 Al-Shabaab Fighters in Major Raid

The Somali National Army’s elite Danab Commandos, with help from international partners, have killed more than 100 Al-Shabaab fighters, including top commanders, during a bold operation in Awdheegle, Lower Shabelle. This attack is part of Operation Silent Storm, an ongoing mission to weaken Al-Shabaab and restore security across southern Somalia.

According to the Ministry of Defence, the operation was carefully planned to target the group’s heavily fortified hideouts. Using precise airstrikes, the commandos destroyed bunkers and defensive tunnels, allowing them to advance on the ground and take full control of the area. This comes after Al-Shabaab faced defeats in towns like Sabiid, Caanoole, and Bariire, delivering a heavy blow to the group’s operations.

Officials say that real-time intelligence helped the Danab Commandos strike accurately while minimizing harm to civilians. Local leaders have welcomed the military action, hoping it will allow residents to return to normal life and for businesses to reopen in areas that were under militant control.

Experts note that repeated losses are putting pressure on Al-Shabaab’s leadership, disrupting their communication networks and planning. While the group still remains a threat, continued coordinated operations like Operation Silent Storm are gradually reducing their ability to carry out large-scale attacks. The Somali government continues to push forward to dismantle Al-Shabaab, protect civilians, and restore lasting stability in the region.
