Hon. Joseph Mukasa has officially declared that he will run for Member of Parliament for Makindye-Sabagabo Municipality in the 2026 elections. He will represent the National Unity Platform (NUP) under the message: “People First, Service, Equity and Transformation.” His announcement has brought renewed hope to many in the area who are eager for change.
Mukasa is a familiar and trusted figure in Makindye-Sabagabo. For more than 20 years, he has worked side by side with the community, helping address real-life problems such as poor roads, lack of jobs for the youth, insecurity, and limited access to healthcare and good education. He has seen the struggles of mothers walking long distances to health centers without medicine, and youth with skills but no jobs. These experiences have shaped his desire to bring real solutions.
As the Executive Director of HELP Uganda, Mukasa has trained thousands of youth and women in skills like tailoring, hairdressing, and baking—helping many start small businesses and improve their lives. He has also worked with major international organizations including USAID, CDC, and the World Bank, giving him strong experience in managing development programs.
In his 2026 manifesto, Mukasa promises to focus on fixing roads and drainage, improving schools and hospitals, and ensuring better public services. He also plans to hold regular community meetings to listen to people’s views and involve them in important decisions. His priorities include youth and women empowerment, clean environments, and strong community participation.
He calls himself a servant leader—someone who listens, understands, and takes action for the good of the people.
This isn’t his first time in politics. Mukasa previously ran for the same position in the 2011–2016 elections. Although he didn’t win, he remained active in serving the community through his NGO and Rotary work. His contributions are still visible throughout the municipality.
Speaking to residents, he said: “Makindye-Sabagabo deserves better. Our people deserve dignity and real development. I want to be your voice in Parliament so we can build a better future together.”
He has promised to lead with honesty, openness, and accountability. He stands firmly against corruption, vote-buying, and selfish politics.
The people want change. And Hon. Joseph Mukasa is ready to lead that change.
