The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has announced an extension for the filing and payment of monthly tax returns for the month of May 2025. The original due date, which was set for today, has now been pushed to Monday, 16th June 2025.
In an official notice shared with the public, URA stated that the extension applies to all taxpayers who are expected to submit their returns and make payments for the month of May. This move comes as a welcome relief for many businesses and individuals who may have been racing against time to meet today’s deadline.
URA has encouraged taxpayers to use this extra time wisely to organize their documents and complete the filing process without errors or pressure. The authority also reminded the public that timely tax compliance is important not just for avoiding penalties, but also for supporting national development.
Those who have already filed and paid for May do not need to take any further action. However, those who haven’t yet done so now have a few more days to comply.
Taxpayers are advised to read the full public notice on the URA website or contact their nearest URA office for more details and assistance. Online platforms such as the URA portal and mobile apps are available to make the filing process easier and faster.
This extension is a clear sign that URA is listening to public concerns and is committed to working together with taxpayers to build a more compliant and friendly tax environment.
