EC Leads the Way as Village Campaigns for Special Groups Kick Off

Across villages in Uganda, the air is buzzing with excitement and purpose as campaign meetings for Special Interest Group Committees are taking place from June 12 to June 14, 2025. During this period, candidates seeking to lead committees for Youth, Older Persons, and Persons with Disabilities are meeting with voters, sharing their visions, and asking for support. These campaigns are happening in every corner of the country, giving local people the chance to listen, ask questions, and choose leaders who understand their unique needs.

The meetings are not only about politics—they are about inclusion, representation, and hope. Young people are stepping forward with fresh ideas for education, jobs, and development. Older persons are offering wisdom, promising care and dignity for senior citizens. Meanwhile, candidates with disabilities are reminding voters that having a voice matters, no matter your physical condition. These campaigns show the strength of Uganda’s democracy and the importance of giving everyone a seat at the table.

Villagers are attending these meetings with great interest. In schools, churches, and open grounds, communities are gathering to listen to passionate speeches and make informed choices. The Uganda Electoral Commission has ensured that the process is peaceful, open, and fair. As June 14 approaches, voters are expected to cast their votes for the people they believe will truly stand up for their interests. This is more than just a campaign—it is a celebration of inclusion and the power of every citizen’s voice.
