Are You on the Voters Register? Here’s What You Need to Know

As Uganda gears up for its next electoral season, citizens are being urged to take part in the ongoing Display of the National Voters Register (NVR). This vital process is not just a formality — it’s a key step in ensuring that every eligible voter can participate in a free, fair, and credible election. Running until 15 May 2025, the NVR Display offers you the opportunity to verify your voter details, report errors, and help maintain the integrity of the electoral roll.

One of the most important things to check is whether your name appears on the register — and if it does, make sure it’s spelled correctly. Even a small mistake in your name could cause issues on voting day. Additionally, confirm that you’re registered in the correct parish where you intend to vote. Being registered in the wrong location could prevent you from casting your ballot, especially if you’re far from your actual polling station.

This is also your chance to help clean the voters register. If you know of any individuals listed who are deceased or under the age of 18, it’s your responsibility to report it to the Electoral Commission. Ensuring that only eligible voters are on the list is crucial to preventing electoral fraud and maintaining public trust in the process.

While you can review some of your details online at ec.or.ug/register, verifying your photo can only be done in person at your designated display centre. This step is important to confirm your identity and prevent impersonation or voter substitution.

So don’t wait until it’s too late. Take a few minutes to verify your information, correct any errors, and report irregularities. Participating in the NVR Display is not just your right — it’s your civic duty. Let’s work together to ensure that the 2025 elections are accurate, inclusive, and trustworthy.
