Uganda Civil Aviation Authority adapts direct routing to cut emissions and costs.

Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) has launched Direct Routing Operations (DRO) within the Entebbe Flight Information Region, marking a significant step forward for Uganda’s aviation sector. This strategic move aims to support Uganda’s economy and environmental protection efforts by reducing airlines’ operational costs and minimizing carbon emissions from fuel and burns.
Utilizing advanced Meteorological databases, UCAA plans to smoothen sharing of weather information across borders. This initiative will not only enhances public safety but also support critical economic activities and decision-making processes in the region.
Furthermore, UCAA has unveiled a comprehensive roadmap for transitioning from traditional Aeronautical Information Service (AIS) to modern Aeronautical Information Management (AIM) systems. This transition aims to revolutionize flight planning, navigation, aircraft control, and management, ultimately enhancing overall aircraft performance and safety standards.
These initiatives underscore UCAA’s commitment to advancing Uganda’s aviation infrastructure while fostering sustainable practices and ensuring robust safety measures across its airspace.
