Former Lands,Housing and Urban Development Minister Daudi Migereko has blamed journalists for exposing the garbage menace in Jinja City.
Migereko now Chairman of the Uganda Tourism Board said the exposure affected businesses and turned away many tourists who had planned to spend their holidays in Jinja.

Speaking at the end of year prayers at Christ Cathedral Bugembe, the former Butembe County MP said the media portrayed Jinja as a collapsing city with incompetent leaders yet the matter could have been handled without raise eyebrows of the whole world.

He was referring to a story aired in Baba Television’s Morning show GANGAMUKA that showed a whole street Alice Mulooki Road closed with uncollected garbage.

The stench and filth in the area caused uproar forcing residents to cry out for help.
The video clips of the garbage stock went viral prompting City authorities into a crisis meeting in which journalists were barred.
Jinja City Mayor Peter Kasolo Okocha quickly blamed the mess on the central government that he said had allocated no money to help him deliver services to his dwellers.

Since then, the City Town clerk is having sleepless nights as more information comes to the public exposing the rot,fraud and incompetence at City Hall.
