DP Ruto asks Raila to reconsider his decision to boycott the presidential debate.

Kenya’s NANDI Hills, July 25 – Currently, Raila Odinga of the Azimio La Umoja – One Kenya coalition is being urged by Deputy President William Ruto to rethink his decision to skip tomorrow’s presidential debate.

During a Monday campaign stop in Nandi Hills, Ruto said he would be there to greet him.

I wish to support my opponent, Mr. Kitendawili, and kindly ask you to think it over. I’ll be waiting for you at the debate.

“The only other reason I’m asking him to come is so he can explain what Tibim and Tialala are to Kenyans. These Kenyans are interested in learning the main points of the folktales you frequently recount at rallies. in spite of having a policy, just come and tell Kenyans that,” said the presidential candidate for the United Democratic Alliance.

This request comes a day after the Azimio La Umoja – One Kenya Presidential Campaign Secretariat released a statement announcing that their candidate would instead participate in a televised town hall meeting at Jericho Social Hall in response to Ruto’s demands for topics rather than the Tuesday presidential debate.

William Ruto “has no regard for ethics and public morals,” according to Makau Mutua, a spokesman for the Odinga campaign secretariat, hence his candidate is ineligible to debate him.

However, in response, Ruto asserted that Odinga skipped the highly publicized presidential discussion because he had no plans for the nation.

One of Ruto,s presidential campaigns

“He has been reluctant to participate in the argument since they are unable to explain their agendas. That verbose man lacks clarity around what he wants for Kenyans.

At a rally on Sunday in Kisii, he declared, “There is only one strategy in Kenya, and that is the one that Kenya Kwanza has.

Since then, Ruto has indicated that he will attend the discussion and inform Kenyans of Kenya Kwanza’s vision for the nation.

The subjects that will guide the discussion have been a point of contention between the Ruto and Raila camps.

While Odinga’s Azimio threatened to withdraw from the debate because it,s not focused on the battle against corruption, Ruto’s UDA requested the allocation of a specific timeslot for important matters including health and the economy.

As long as the moderators allotted the same amount of time to questions about the economy, healthcare, and other important matters, Ruto’s campaign had stated that their candidate was eager to tackle all important topics, including corruption and integrity.
