Popular show host Ibrahim Shamiru also known as Byakika has quit the Nizam road-based Media Empire, NBS Group owned by Media Mogul turned politician Nathan Igeme Nabetta.
Byakika, in a tweet,after he was unveiled at Bugembe stadium by Baba media proprietor and former Jinja West MP, Moses Grace Balyeku posted, “Hullo ‘bantu’ bange, June 30, 2022 ekitangaaza was my final programme at 89.4 NBS radio and last day. A great six years at this radio station have finally come to an end. Thank you, chairman, brother, boss, honorable Nathan Igeme Nabetta [NIN] for the opportunity and mentorship,”
He added, “Thank you NBS FM management, newsroom for the support. To you the listeners, thank you for tuning in and thank you for loving me, my programs etc. I can’t wait to tell you that OBUSOGA BULAIRE.”
OBUSOGA BULAIRE is a popular slogan of Busoga kingdom and its much popular with Balyeku’s media group.
Byakika’s departure is the peak of internal misunderstandings and intrigue with fellow staff at NBS who view Byakika’s closeness to Uganda’s top cream as undeserving to him and a threat to their jobs.
In his career, Byakika has hosted all Ugandan top cream politicians. These include President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who at one time donated him 5 Friesian cows.
Byakika is a darling to rivaling politicians in the region and always working with all in a highly ethical manner.
Shamiru was a great friend of Princess Namuganza, State Minister for Urban Planning , Justine Kasule Lumumba former National Resistance Movement Secretary General, now minister for General Duties, OPM, and former Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga, at the time the three were not seeing eye to eye.
He is a close friend to Works Minister General Edward Katumba Wamala, to whom he attributes his success in life.
Byakika,s departure to Baba media renews the media. And business supremacy rivalry between agemates Nathan Nabetta of NBS group and Balyeku, both powerful politicians.
Recently, Nabetta snatched Balyeku’s radio presenters Meddy Dhakaba aka Uncle Meddy, and a one Peter Wantiimba.
Ibrahim Shamiru Byakika, is also a big name in the Islamic religion in Busoga region where he is a spokesperson in the region.
Shamiru Byakika joined NBS FM as a news anchor, presenter, talk show host in February 2016. Previously he was from Source FM that was later sold off to pastor Aloysius Bujjingo. Prior, He worked with Bilal FM and Bamboo fm.
He emerged as one of the most influential in his Profession, with considerable enemies and friends from his shining career.
Rumors are that an opportunity to work for the Baba group, grounded with a 7 digit salary structure, against NBS’s 6 digits, his former employer and a forgiving heart from a man who only a few years ago he had labelled as corrupt and a political menace nick naming him , BAGAYEKU in his fight against former RDC Eric Sakwa, has softened the journalist’s heart, the big question remains will Ibrahim Shamiru aka Byakika cause any change at baba media group?.
