Buganda Kingdom Premier Charles Peter Mayiga has bowed to public outrage and explained the frail health of the Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi.
After days of criticism following the Kabaka appearance for his birthday party in Lubiri on April 13, Mayiga today called a press conference to clear the air.
He explained that the monarch was suffering from allergies from wearing facemasks for a long time but wasn’t poisoned as alleged by social media platforms. He said the condition was being managed by the best medics and the Kabaka would be well soon.
His media briefing coincided with the public taking of the COVID-19 vaccine by the Kabaka and his wife Lady Sylvia Nagginda Luswata.
Last night, events Promoter Balaam Barugahare stunned social media critics with a short video of the Kabaka freely shopping at Capital Shoppers in Ntinda.
The video reduced tensions and interrupted growing conspiracies that the Kabaka was critically ill with allegations that the Katikkiro and royal family were in connivance not to fly the King abroad for advanced treatment. Critics said accused Mayiga of concealing the Kabaka’s illness.
