NRM To Hold Primaries In Areas Where The Elections Never Took Place

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission is set to conduct residual elections in the electoral areas where voting or results were cancelled for various reasons.

According to the NRM electoral commission vice chairperson John Alimpa Kijaji, the party will tomorrow 8th October 2020 hold elections for Mbale city woman MP seat in the 58 villages where the declaration forms went  missing.

The primaries for the mentioned seat were held on 4th September 2020 but the commission did not declare the winner due to the confusion that ensued during the tallying process.

Speaking to Journalists yesterday, Kijaji noted that the four contestants for the seat were called to the commission on 24th September and briefed on the missing DR forms in the 58 villages representing 14.9% and they all agreed with the decision to organise elections again in those villages.

The commission announced provisional results showing Lydia Wanyoto Mutende leading with 28,061 votes, Connie Galiwango in second position with 18,872 votes, Jalia Namasaba third with 2,824 votes and Luwungule the last with 1,462 Votes.
